Goyle forced to remind voters he’s a Democrat

In what can only be interpreted as a sign that the Goyle campaign is seriously worried that he may not make it past the Democratic primary, Raj’s latest TV ad ends with a reminder to, “Vote for Goyle in the August 3rd Democratic Primary.”

In fact, the ad is so new the campaign hasn’t even uploaded it to its YouTube channel yet. I’ll add the link here when it is online.

Goyle’s previous ads make no mention of his party affiliation or previous ties to the ACLU or other liberal groups. In expected liberal Kansas style, Goyle attempts to portray himself with the usual buzz words “independent” and “Kansas values.” In a bit of irony, Goyle’s own campaign website header proclaims, “Good ideas don’t come with a party label. All that matters is whether it’s right for Kansas.”

That is, of course, as long as you make it past your primary. When that’s in doubt, then a party label comes in pretty handy.

It looks like his election year make-over was a little too effective. The latest poll in the fourth district had Goyle 3 points behind his Democratic challenger, Robert Tillman. Tillman claims to have spent less than $5,000 on the race while Goyle has collected over $1 million in campaign funds.

As Bob Weeks at Wichita Liberty noted previously, this year Raj Goyle voted more conservatively than Jean Schodorf, who is running for the same seat. What an example of things politicians will do to convince a voter they’re something they’ve never been in the past.

Could Kansas be the next South Carolina? It certainly looks like the Goyle campaign thinks it might.

KRA endorsed Mike Pompeo is the conservative candidate in the fourth district. Unlike Goyle or Schodorf, he’s run an issues oriented, hard hitting campaign that shows why his military and business experience is what’s needed in Washington.

Democrats love Washington, Republicans love Kansas

Sometimes the difference between the two major political parties is so plain it just smacks you in the face.

Take the Kansas Democratic and Republican Parties. Kansas Republicans just recently celebrated Kansas Days. It was an opportunity for Kansans of all walks of life to gather together and discuss the future of the state of Kansas and the Republican Party. The Kansas Republican Assembly brought in spectacular guest speakers who’s work brought down the uber-corrupt ACORN organization and significantly reduced their federal funding.

Then take the Kansas Democratic Party. The last weekend in February they’ll hold their annual Washington Days convention. As the name suggests, Kansas Democrats could quite frankly care less about Kansas when Washington is calling. Just ask Kathleen Sebelius.

And who does the KDP choose to bring in as their headline speaker? Someone who roots out corruption wherever it may lay? Maybe a freedom loving open government fighter? After all, weren’t the Washington Democrats supposed to usher in a new era of openness? Oh no! They choose to bring in a California Democrat. Because California is doing so well, I guess Kansas Democrats think we should be more like them. After all, once you’ve celebrated Washington in all it’s corrupt glory, what’s left but to bring in a California liberal?

There’s a lot to be said about a name. And Kansas Democrats show their true colors by celebrating Washington and the power of the feds rather than the spirit and hard work Kansans bring to the table.

Poll: KS-03 Republican primary

Let the races begin!

The primary race in Kansas’ Third Congressional District just got a lot more crowded with Dennis Moore announcing he’s quitting rather than face Republican opposition.

You can vote for your choice for a Republican nominee in our poll on the right. We’ve tried to list any candidate running or somewhat seriously considering running.

We’ll announce the results at a later date.

Three people decide new state rep

A tweet from the Kansas Watchdog tells us why it’s so important to become a precinct man or woman and keep the Republican Party conservative.

@KansasWatchdogHawver reports Melany Barnes elected 3-0 to replace Tom Sawyer as State Rep in 95th district in Wichita. Sawyer moves to Parole Board.

Only three people decided tonight who will represent thousands of citizens in Topeka during the next legislative session. As has been noted before, just a few votes can make all the difference in Topeka. Your vote counts even more when your elected to represent a precinct.

Both the Republican and Democratic Parties elect precinct people every two years to represent their neighborhoods. If a state representative or senator should resign their office before their term is up, it is the respective parties precinct representatives who will vote in a replacement to fill out the remaining term.

Tonight’s vote was to replace a Democratic State Rep, and since only Democrats get to decide who the replacement will be (and vice-versa for Republicans), that probably explains the extremely low number of people voting. Can you imagine just three people deciding who will represent you for the next year, or three years if they are replacing a state senator?

Signing up is easy. Any registered Republican can run for precinct man or woman. Go here to print fill out the filing form, then turn it in to your local county elections office by June 10, 2010. You’re name will be placed on the 2010 primary election ballot, and if you win the most votes, you’re in!

As always, contact us if you have any questions about what is involved.

Kansas left admits 2010 looking like a Republican sweep

Kansas Confidential, a new liberal blog in Kansas, has an interestingly truthful post regarding the leadership void within the Kansas Democratic Party and who’s to blame for it. According to the new blog, the primary culprit is none other than Kathleen Sebelius.

According to the Kansas left, Sebelius was more interested in her own political ambitions during her time in Kansas than in helping grow the Democratic Party. As Kansas Confidential puts it:
