Slattery tells public what he really thinks about Pat Roberts

An email sent out on behalf of the Slattery campaign tonight give the public some real insight as to what his campaign workers and maybe even what he thinks of Pat Roberts.

Read the first email here (Warning, this email includes offensive language)

Read the second email here (Same as the first without quotes)

Read the third email here (I’m so sorry email!)

An online article in the Topeka Capital Journal sheds a little more light on what exactly a “placeholder” quote is.

“Staples…said the first e-mail had been intended for internal use only but a software glitch with “placeholder” quotes was sent out rather than the final draft of the message.”

Apparently the Slattery campaign just dreams up some quotes and then puts them in an email to hold the place where ‘real’ quotes are supposed to go.

Let’s go over quickly why the Slattery apology is a bunch of malarkey.

First, the apology email states, “The email was in no way a reflection on Julie Merz , Jim Slattery, the Jim Slattery for Senate Campaign or even my personal views.

Is that why you chose that particular quote? You could have written a lot of things about Pat Roberts, but you chose to call him a derogatory name instead. You’re telling me you chose that particular quote even though you personally don’t believe it? I mean, I know Slattery’s a lobbyist and everything and likes to sell chocolate pop sickles to ladies wearing white, but come on, you really think Kansans are going to buy that?

Now, here’s the other fly in the ointment on this one. What about Roberts? Does the Slattery campaign believe this is a reflection on Roberts? I’d like to know. They made sure to include their staff and candidate but left out the guy who got slandered for no reason. It’s all class with this Democrat.

Next up. “Technical issues on the part of our software vendor are no excuse for my behavior and I take full responsibility and ask for your forgiveness in this matter. Again please disregard the earlier email and my deepest apologies to both Julie Merz and Senator Roberts.

Ahhh, finally an apology. Interesting that Julie Merz and Pat Roberts get the same lame apology. Funny, I didn’t see Merz’s name being slandered, only Roberts. Also interesting that it’s the last thing listed in the email after the Slattery campaign gets done covering for its own. Is there a reason they couldn’t have apologized outright like any decent person should have? Is there a reason Roberts couldn’t have gotten a personal, individual apology?

And one really has to wonder about the Slattery campaign when they include another typo in their ‘apology’ email.

You thought I was talking about “Senat” wheren’t you?

NOOOO, silly! I’m talking about Ian forgetting to put “former” in front of “Deputy Communications Director.” At least, if Jim Slattery has any decency in him, he’ll be sure his title reads like that tomorrow.

I did think you were talking about “Senat.” But then I was distracted by you making a spelling and grammatical error while trying to disqualify the legitimacy of the Slattery Campaign because of their typo. “Wheren’t” you going to mention that even though this was an unfortunate mistake, it has little to do with the character of Jim Slattery?
