The proof is in the pudding

The original KTRM press release from 8-1-08 is now online for viewing. Click here to see the pdf file. A list of KTRM PAC board members is also listed on the pdf file, including many current and former State Representatives and Senators.

It’s also interesting to note on this election eve that, again, we weren’t too far off in saying the KTRM had taken some pointers from the Democratic playbook.

It’s very curious that the fourth paragraph of the KTRM press release reads:

In 1996, Perkins-while working on a Louisiana senate campaign-authorized the payment of $82,000 to former KKK Grand Wizard David Duke for his mailing list. The Federal Election Commission later fined the Perkins-run campaign $3,000 for attempting to hide the money paid to Duke.

It’s interesting because this is from a May 8 entry from the blog Boyda Bloc (probably run by Boyda staffers in DC…although now one wonders if a KTRM member isn’t behind the site.)

In 1996 Perkins paid former Ku Klux Klan Grand Wizard David Duke $82,500 for his mailing list. At the time, Perkins was the campaign manager for a right-wing Republican candidate for the US Senate in Louisiana. The Federal Election Commission fined the campaign Perkins ran $3,000 for attempting to hide the money paid to Duke.

Do they seem a little similar? That’s because they basically are. The problem for the KTRM though is that the source the Boyda Bloc cites is from the Nation, a weekly periodical regularly referred to as the ‘flagship of the left.’ Is this the source the KTRM, an organization that calls itself Republican mind you, trusts to get to the truth?

The KTRM also fails to tell you the whole truth, because they apparently rely on a far left organization to shape their reality.

Tony Perkins was the manager of the 1996 U.S. Senate campaign of Republican Woody Jenkins in Louisiana where Impact Media was contracted to make pre-recorded telephone calls for the campaign. In 1999, an unrelated federal investigation uncovered that David Duke had a financial interest in the company, which he did not report to the IRS, resulting in his conviction on federal tax evasion charges. This connection was not known to Mr. Perkins until 1999.

You see, KTRM’s little lie isn’t anything new. FRC released a statement clear back in 2005 refuting the statements made in the Nation. It’s interesting to note that no other news organization picked up the ‘story.’

So then, why would the KTRM put out a press release full of racial lies based on a far left story printed years ago only four days before an election?

Well, if you can’t come up with an answer to that question on you own, then I don’t think I can help you answer it.
